Dual Type Pokemon!
At long last the Pokemon TCG has introduced dual-type Pokemon! Since forever many Pokemon have had up to two typings. More than one type changes a Pokemons weakness and resistances. For example Charmander and Charmeleon are Fire-Types with a weakness to Ground. But Charizard is Fire/Flying with an immunity to Ground, but with a new weakness to Electricity. This never translated into the game but that all changed with Pokemon Steam Siege!
Now Pokemon with two types are in the game and they’re much more effective because unlike despite having two types the cards still only have one weakness. However when dealing damage if your opponent is weak to EITHER of the dual-type Pokemons types they will take double the damage. This is a huge strategic advantage and it’s important to learn which Pokemon are dual-type so that you can properly prepare for them.
The Legends of XY get BREAKS!
Xerneas and Yveltal, the Pokemon iterations of life and destruction now have BREAK forms to wreak havoc on their enemies! BREAK forms are Golden Pokemon Cards that you place sideways over their predecessor so that you may still see the previous Pokemon’s abilities and attacks. BREAK Pokemon come with their own abilities and attacks but what makes them unique is they can still use all of the abilities and attacks of their previous form. They aren’t evolutions per se as the Pokemon that have BREAK forms are generally the highest level of an evolution line. However in the Pokemon TCG 
the mechanics are generally the same.
So why is this significant? Well Xerneas and Yveltal are two very useful cards in Fairy and Darkness decks to fuel their teammates with energy. However on their own they aren’t very threatening and having them in your active spot often means giving up a prize to power the bench. But with the vicious attacks of Xerneas and Yveltal BREAK they can now hold their own against EX pokemon and provide a powerful initial attack before their allies hit the field.
